The AuxVault API uses standard HTTP status codes to indicate the success or failure of a request. In addition to the HTTP code, the response body will often contain a more specific Response Code with details about the transaction status.

API Response Codes

Status CodeMeaningDescription
200OKThe request was successful.
400Bad RequestThe request was malformed, such as having missing or invalid parameters.
401UnauthorizedThe request is missing a valid API key.
403ForbiddenYou do not have permission to access this resource.
404Not FoundThe requested resource could not be found.
500Internal Server ErrorAn unexpected error occurred on our servers.

201Do not honorGeneric decline with no additional information provided by the issuer
202Insufficient fundsDeclined for insufficient funds
203Exceeds withdrawn limitDeclined for exceeding a withdrawn limit set by the issuer
204Invalid TransactionDeclined as the issuer does not recognize the transaction
205SCA DeclineSoft Decline indicating that a SCA challenge is required
220Invalid AmountProvided amount is not supported by the issuer
221No such IssuerThe issuing bank can not be found
222No credit AcctInvalid credit card number
223Expired CardCredit card as expired and can not be processed
225Invalid CVCInvalid CVC or CVV2 value has been provided

320Gateway Decline - ChargebackThe transaction was declined because the previous transaction was charged back
321Gateway Decline - Stop FraudThe transaction was declined because the customer record has been flagged as “stop_fraud”
322Gateway Decline - Closed ContactThe transaction was declined because the customer record has been flagged as “closed_contact”
323Gateway Decline - Stop RecurringThe transaction was declined because the customer record has been flagged as “stop_recurring”
